I've had this disc in my car for about 3 weeks and its been getting a lot of play. I know kent said it was filled with older tracks, but most of it was new to me. School by Supertramp, and 1979 by the pumpkins are the only two tracks I've heard before. I love all of the covers on this disc, especially Sweet emotion by the MM Bostones, the Pink Floyd remix by Eric Prydz (something about the battling out of phase rhythms that I love), and The Pixes cover by Yoav.

Other tracks getting repeat plays are Andres by L7 and Three Days by Janes Addiction. Great songs.

There are always some skippable tracks on each disc but this one only has two for me; John Mayer's '83 track (he looses me with the "six foot small" lyric, and Teachers by Daft Punk (I just didn't "get" this track).

This disc has the second Drive by Truckers song that I like...although this one is a tad more morbid than the story of incest on Peter's disc.

My favorite track right now is Vapour Trail By Trespassers William. A very nice ending to a great disc.

Thanks Kent

Mike

Thanks for the feedback Mike...I've been listening to the disc myself a lot as well. Sorry about the tracks you didn't like...they were fillers that fit the theme more than anything...although in my books, Daft Punk are gods. Saw them live last year in Montreal and they blew me away completely.

They are the teachers.

Only two tracks to skip over is unusual...I'm sure there are many people skipping many more of my tracks (or discs for that matter). Harpal listened to my first disc and said "not bad...but what the hell were you thinking with Angus Dei 1,2,and 3??"

By the way, the first time I heard anything by Eric Prydz it was this workout video:

I really like this CD too. I agree with you Mike on Vapour Trail....I have played that one a lot... and Andres. I also like Clinic and have to dig up that CD.

I disagree with your comment on Daft Punk, I thought it worked well (don't you love that music is subjective.)The one that I have to skip over is DBT...not because I dislike the music but that song is just too graphically tragic.

Thanks for the comments guys. I am definitely into this process more for the construction of an interesting 'mix tape' than purely for sending out new music to people. I guess that's why when I make a CD, I always think they deserve to be listened to from start to finish, not track by track. I enjoy finding tracks that while maybe disparate in their style or era or genre, still 'link' or connect to each other because of some musical element, instrument, mood or lyric. I guess that make me a bit of a music geek but that's just the way I think. Maybe the next CD I make, I should consider sending out a mixed version and an unmixed companion CD so that people can have unadulterated, unmixed single tracks. Not keen on doing this 'cause more work. What do you think?

Totally get the "start to finish" concept. The mix is cool....2 CD's would be way too much work.

I like the mixing as well. I thought tracks two and three were the same song for a while...well done.
