A few live shows.....

A live show forum is great, especially if there are shows that we might not think of going to otherwise...I am lamenting my lack of live show attendance in the last months but look forward to all the opportunities in Mtl this spring.

My number 1 show in the last year was definately Radiohead in the rain and mud on Ile Ste Helene. The whole nite was an event including the festive walk with a happy crowd (because the metro was just too full) back over the bridge. Radiohead was, as always, awesome!

The other big show that was fun for the whole family was the Foo Fighters. Great stadium rock.

Simple Plan also ranked high for their energy and bonding fun with my daughter. James Taylor and his Band of Legends put on a good show but I think I got a cavity it was soooooo sweet and feel good.

I would not recommend Alicia Keyes at a large venue. She is a talent but sounded hollow at the Bell Centre. I would have loved to hear her live at a small site with her sitting behind a piano.

Smaller shows that I loved....anything at the Montreal Jazz Fest. Really the city at its very best. If you get a chance to catch Karkwa ( I saw them on stage, together, with Patrick Watson) take it!

Sebastien Granger was not impressive. The first time he fell over backwards it was funny, but by the fourth time, less impressive. We realized he just couldn't stand up!

The Raconteurs were great. Jack White gives your moneys worth.

So much opportunity, so little time......

Wow, impressive set of shows...I do have to agree with the Radiohead call though...I saw them twice a few years ago both times at Parc Jean-Drapeau on beautiful very warm, Montreal August nights. In short, just unbelievable!! Seeing the Beta Band opening was pretty awesome as well. I have also had the Simple Plan experience with Tristan which did take me back to that event Rosalie talked about when my Mom took me to see Kiss live at age 9 and then suggested to the 14 year old next to me that he let me smell the smoke from the joint just so I would know what pot smelled so I would know well enough to stay away the next time I came in contact.........riiiiggghhtt......Other great shows were Rage Against the Machine at the Verdun Auditorium...freakin' awesome man...and NIN at the Bell Center. Oh yeah, Tragically Hip at The University of Illinois Arena in Chicago with my buddy Lew, as well as the Hip again at Grant Park, Chicago, if you can believe it on July 4th 2000. Another was Smashing Pumpkins with about 15 of my good friends from residency as well as my future wife, and the amazing feel good, in love moment we had when they played 1979 and the lead guitarist forom The Frogs came out to play wearing green tinted Angels wings! Spectacular and a moment that France and I still talk about.

To quite DT....Music is the answer....to your problems....
